James compares “Wisdom” against “wisdom”. Real “Wisdom” is marked by the presence of God’s love, while the “wisdom” that “is earthly, natural, demonic” is the epitome of what the Bible calls “foolishness.” These become two ways to live life: by God’s love, or “natural, demonic” folly.
