“How are the dead raised?”
That’s the question Paul answers in this passage, and it’s a beauty to behold! The Bible gives us a concrete glimpse into the nature of eternity - and the resurrection. The implications? Paul says it well:
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord. 1 Corinthians 15:58

Living with purpose and direction: that’s what the resurrection means, as Paul explains it:
“now the resurrection from the dead has begun through another man…everyone who belongs to Christ will be given new life.” 1 Cor. 15:21-22
The alternative? As this philosopher said it:
“Brief and powerless is Man’s life…slow, sure doom falls, pitiless and dark…” - Bertrand Russell

The empty tomb is an enduring symbol of the resurrection, and the ultimate symbol of who Jesus Christ is…and most important, His claim to be God! It’s a completely unique, incomparable, outrageous claim! Yet there it is. The Bible states it clearly and unambiguously.
People generally don’t mind “the message of the cross” today. There isn’t always a huge battle over the crucifixion of Christ. But there is a monumental battle over the resurrection of Christ. It is as fierce today as it has ever been.
